Rebecca Sayago
PCAN, Executive Director

Rebecca Sayago was born and raised in Venezuela, South America where she graduated as a Registered Nurse concentrating in women’s health. While working for several years as a lead floor nurse at a local hospital specializing in Obstetrics and GYN services, she also served as a coordinator for summer camps assisting in the needs of medically disabled children. She immigrated to the United States in 1999 with her husband George and her two daughters, Susan and Carolina. Since arriving to this country, she has participated in many activities and projects, focusing mainly on improving health care outcomes in the community. She joined the Shepherd’s Hope team in 2002, providing support in various capacities. This included creating a case management department to respond to the needs of patients navigating the system of care in the Central Florida area. She became a Certified Community Interpreter in 2005 and created a training guide for all volunteers in the organization who provided support to non-English speakers seeking medical care through the organization. Because health care is currently one of the major factors impacting the workforce in the state of Florida, she is a big advocate of educating the community and providing the necessary resources to empower families to become more proactive and engaged in making decisions that will benefit their own health care outcomes. Presently, Mrs. Sayago is the Executive Director of the Primary Care Access Network, also known as PCAN, providing support to a network of 22 agencies through a dynamic collaborative among Orange County Government, primary health care centers, community agencies, hospitals and other social services. PCAN’s mission is to improve the access, quality and coordination of health care services to the underinsured and uninsured populations of Orange County. Mrs. Sayago was recently recognized by the Florida Department of Health in Orange County with the “2019 Health Equity Hero Award” helping raise awareness on issues impacting health disparities. Mrs. Sayago was also recognized by True Health as a “2020 Community Champion” in recognition of her contributions to the vision of the organization. Mrs. Sayago feels very blessed to be part of the change in the lives of many Central Florida neighbors in need of medical care and is grateful for the opportunity to work with wonderful community partners who make this change possible!
